Every enterprise server comes standard with two network ports configured in active-active Virtual Port Channel (vPC) mode. Unlike traditional active-passive failover, both ports carry traffic simultaneously, delivering 2x1 Gbps aggregate through professional Cisco Nexus datacenter switches.

Cisco Nexus runs cut-through switching at nanosecond latency, ensuring your traffic takes the fastest possible path. Load balancing happens in hardware across both uplinks. If one link or switch fails, traffic seamlessly migrates to the surviving path with zero packet loss and zero downtime.

RTBH DDoS Mitigation with sFlow Telemetry

We operate Remotely Triggered Black Hole (RTBH) filtering on our BGP uplinks, continuously monitored via sFlow telemetry on our edge routers. When traffic to a destination IP spikes above baseline, our sFlow collector detects the anomaly in real time and triggers a blackhole route over iBGP. The blackhole community is automatically announced to our upstream Transit Providers, so the attack traffic is dropped at their network edge before it ever reaches our network, while the rest of your infrastructure stays online.

Your enterprise workloads, from production databases and payment gateways to multi-tenant SaaS, stay online on every other IP while the attacked one rides out the flood, paired with our Dual-Port Active-Active vPC fabric and Cisco Nexus cut-through switching. You can announce a blackhole community yourself (if you operate BGP with us) or simply ask our NOC to trigger it. RTBH is effective against volumetric L3/L4 floods (UDP, SYN, amplification). Layer 7 application-layer attacks fall outside the scope of RTBH and require application-level defenses such as a WAF, rate limiting, or caching that you implement at your own application tier.

Pair Your Enterprise Server with Proxmox Backup Server

Enterprise rack servers are typically deployed as virtualization hypervisors hosting dozens of VMs. If you plan to run Proxmox VE on yours, bundle it with our Proxmox Backup Server service. PBS plugs in as a native storage target on the Proxmox VE node (Proxmox VE 8 or newer recommended), uses QEMU dirty bitmaps for fast incremental VM and container backups, and unlocks Live-restore so a guest can boot while its data is still streaming back. Trust between the enterprise host and the backup server is anchored by a certificate fingerprint pinned at storage-add time.

Not running Proxmox VE? The recommendation still holds. Proxmox Backup is a client-server solution where many unrelated hosts can share one backup server. The lightweight client runs on most modern Linux distributions, so you can back up files, directories, and entire raw disks from any enterprise host or VM into a centralised, deduplicated, encrypted store. Encryption happens client-side, before any byte leaves the enterprise host, so the server only ever sees ciphertext.

Incremental + Deduplication

Periodic backups produce mostly duplicate data. The client sends only changed blocks; the server splits data into fixed or variable sized chunks and collapses identical ones across all hosts and snapshots. A fleet of VMs sharing one OS image stores that OS once.

ZSTD Compression

Zstandard handles several gigabytes per second on modern CPUs while keeping a high compression ratio. Backups stay fast and storage stays small, with no perceptible CPU pressure on the source host.

End-to-end Encryption

Authenticated AES-256 in Galois/Counter Mode (GCM) runs on the client, before any byte leaves the host. An optional RSA master key pair safely stores and recovers the backup key, which you can print for offline, disaster-proof storage.

SHA-256 Integrity

Every backup ships with a manifest (index.json) listing every file, size, and SHA-256 checksum. Schedule verification jobs to catch bit rot. The same checksums drive cross-machine deduplication, so identical OS chunks are stored once across your fleet.

Granular Recovery

How quickly is my server provisioned after payment?
For servers in stock, standard provisioning takes under 24 hours during business days. Most orders placed during business hours are live within 4-8 hours. For custom configurations or out-of-stock models, expect 2-5 business days. You will receive access credentials and out-of-band management details via email.
What operating systems can I run on my dedicated server?
Any OS that supports the server hardware. We provide ready-to-install ISOs for Ubuntu LTS, Debian, AlmaLinux, RockyLinux, Devuan, FreeBSD, Windows Server 2019/2022, Proxmox VE, VMware ESXi, and more. You can also upload your own ISO through the client area, and we will stage it for installation via the out-of-band console.
Can I upgrade my server after it is deployed?
Yes. We offer hot-path upgrades for additional IPv4/IPv6 addresses (assigned remotely), and scheduled-downtime upgrades for RAM, storage (SATA/SAS/SSD/NVMe), and network cards (Intel X710-DA 10 GbE). Upgrades typically require 15-30 minutes of downtime and are priced per component. Contact our sales team for a quote.
How does the out-of-band remote management (iLO/IPMI/IMM/iRMC) work?
Each server has a dedicated management controller (iLO on HP, IPMI on Dell, IMM on IBM, iRMC on Fujitsu) connected to an isolated management network. We provide VPN access credentials so you can reach the controller securely from anywhere. Through this interface you can power cycle, remote-console, mount virtual media, view hardware sensors, and perform BIOS changes, just like standing in front of the server.
What is the Dual-Port Active-Active vPC mentioned in the specs?
Virtual Port Channel (vPC) is a Cisco Nexus feature that allows two physical ports on your server to connect to two different switches and operate as one logical link. Both ports are active simultaneously (2×1 Gbps aggregate, or 2×10 Gbps with the Intel X710-DA upgrade) and load-balance traffic. If one link or switch fails, traffic continues on the surviving path with zero packet loss.
Is DSIX peering really free? Are there hidden costs?
Yes, 100% free. Every enterprise server includes a free 1 Gbps port to DSIX Internet Exchange (AS58218), and if you upgrade to the 10 GbE Intel X710-DA NIC, your DSIX port is upgraded to 10 Gbps at no additional cost. No setup fee, no monthly fee, no bandwidth cap. You are responsible for your own BGP configuration and peering agreements.
What happens when my payment is late?
Invoices are due on the date specified. We provide a 7-day grace period with no penalty. If payment is not received within 14 days, the service is suspended. Data is retained for 30 days total from the invoice due date. After 30 days of non-payment, data is permanently deleted. Reactivation is possible during the grace period.
Do you offer DDoS protection?
Our upstream carriers include baseline volumetric DDoS mitigation (flooding attacks) at the network edge. For Layer 7 attacks or targeted protection, we offer premium DDoS mitigation as an add-on, routed through scrubbing centers with always-on or on-demand activation. Contact sales for pricing based on your expected clean traffic volume.
Can I host unmetered traffic or run bandwidth-heavy applications?
Enterprise servers include 20 TB/month of measured bandwidth at the standard port speed. After 20 TB, the port is not cut off, you pay per-GB overage (very affordable) or upgrade to a higher bandwidth tier. For applications like streaming, CDN edges, or backup targets, contact sales to discuss 100 TB+ or dedicated 10 Gbps unmetered plans.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
We offer a 7-day satisfaction guarantee for new customers on standard configurations. If the server does not meet your expectations within 7 days of delivery, we refund the monthly fee (setup fees are non-refundable). Custom configurations and managed services are not eligible for the guarantee.
How does the Loyalty Gift work, and is there a catch?
Rent any server marked with the Loyalty Gift badge for 12 consecutive months without interruption, and the physical hardware is yours to keep. No catch, just reward for loyalty. You can either continue the service (we will keep hosting it) or take the server home when you eventually cancel. Important: only the base configuration is gifted, any upgrades you purchased (extra RAM, drives, NICs) remain DreamServer property. Also, no warranty or support is provided after you pick up the hardware.
What backup options are available?
Dedicated servers do not include automatic backups (you have root access and full control). We strongly recommend implementing your own backup strategy: rsync to a second server, snapshots if using ZFS or LVM, or our optional managed backup service that stores daily incrementals to off-site storage. For VPS and VDS customers, free backup is available on request.
Where are the servers physically located?
All DreamServer dedicated servers are hosted in our own datacenter in Bucharest, Romania, within EU jurisdiction. Our facility features redundant power with UPS and generator backup, N+1 cooling, multi-carrier fiber uplinks, and on-site staff for remote-hands operations. Our datacenter is connected to DSIX Internet Exchange (AS58218) and multiple Tier 1 upstreams.
Can I transfer my existing data from another provider?
Absolutely. You have root access from day one and can rsync, scp, or use any migration tool to transfer data. For larger migrations (multiple TB), we can ship a pre-configured USB drive to your origin location, or coordinate direct connections if your old provider is on DSIX. Our NOC can assist with DNS cutover planning to minimize downtime.
Do you provide support for configuring my server?
Unmanaged support is included: we handle hardware issues, network connectivity, and infrastructure problems 24/7. OS-level configuration (installing applications, tuning databases, hardening security) is your responsibility, but we offer optional managed services starting at fixed monthly fees for Linux/Windows administration, control panel setup (cPanel, Plesk, Hestia), security patching, and monitoring.
